Zines

A distinct part of underground subculture, zines can allow marginalized groups to express themselves. Using this format, I have explored social issues that are meaningful to me.

Queer & Feminist Punk Bands

This project shares some of my favorite punk bands whose songs contain feminist themes or have queer representation. Each page contains bite-sized Illustrations of the band members along with their names, what they play, their pronouns (if public) and recommended songs. Every face was hand-drawn before being rendered in Adobe Illustrator.

Second Wave Feminism in the 1970s

As part of a course in U.S. History since World War II, I was asked to make a zine as if it was authored during a social movement covered in class. I chose second wave feminism, using this project to address issues such as the Equal Rights Amendment, the need for intersectionality and ally ship with the LGBTQ+ community (which lacked in this era), and reproductive rights.
